2009 Scholarship Reception – Holyoke Community College


That was a piece I wrote during my last semester
here at HCC. I really love the music program. I love the school. Well, the costs are a little
high. I’d like to personally thank you guys so much for helping us out. Especially my
parents because they’re the ones that are paying for this. Well, thanks again guys.
You know, that has made it so much easier to concentrate on the really important things
going on. My music, my studies. Thank you. Hi, my name is Rebecca Charest. I’m from Gill,
Massachusetts and I’m a veterinary science major here at HCC. I’m a recipient of your
donation from Berkshire Bank and I just want to say thank you. It’s greatly appreciated.
It’s made a huge impact on my life. Thank you. Hi, my name is Jennifer Quesnel. I’m receiving
the John DiNapoli Scholarship. I want to thank you very much for your generous gift. I wish
you could have been here. And thank you so much. I wouldn’t have been able to finish
my degree without it. How you doing, Carolyn? I wanted to thank
you. My name’s Jacob Labelle. For considering me and picking me as the recipient of your
scholarship. I really do appreciate it. This is a very positive event in my life and it’s
going to really give me the drive to move forward and do well in school, which I have
been, but some of the goals that I had due to work and due to some situations, I couldn’t
really focus on school. Now this scholarship is really giving me the opportunity and the
drive to go back to school and fulfill my goals and get the degree I want, and go on
from there. I wanted to thank you very much for helping me out so much. Thank you. My name is Corey Vatter and I’m the recipient
of the Fontaine Family Scholarship. I’d like to thank you for investing in my future. Hi, I’m Christopher Goudreau and I’m proud
to be the recipient of the Goldberg Scholarship. I’m going to be studying communications and
the video production material and I’m very grateful for you giving me this scholarship.
I’d like to give you my humblest gratitude. Thank you. Hi, my name’s Michelle Theofane and I want
to thank you so much for the scholarship. The Frances H. Gosselin Scholarship in Nursing
is greatly appreciated and will come in handy for me in my future education. Thank you! Hi, I’m Amelia Bosley and I’m the recipient
of the Joseph Gosselin Scholarship. This is my dad, and this is my boyfriend Adrian. I
just wanted to tell you how grateful I am that you guys gave me this and I’m going to
school for biology right now and I think it can help me do some really great things in
the future. Pops, you got anything? I’d just like to say thank you too. I’m Amelia’s dad
and she’s very excited about the scholarship and it’s going to really really help out with
college and financial aid and all that so thank you again. It’s going to go to good
use. She’s a smart cookie and thank you. Hi, my name is Sophie Chen and I received

meant a lot to me. I just want to express my plentiful gratitude to your company and

receiving the Nathan Kaplinsky Scholarship and I would like to thank everyone for the
scholarship and for making it possible for me. Thank you! This is for Joe Gosselin. I am Anne Winterheld, I am the recipient of
the Yvette LaPorte Scholarship. I want to let you know that I have waited forty years
to come back to school and I have been a single mother raising four children and working and
this has been my dream, to get this degree in hospitality management. I have been serving
the public for over forty years starting at age four handing out Ritz crackers with peanut
butter to my family. I really want to thank you very much for this opportunity. It is
going to help me out a lot. I know I have a wonderful road ahead of me and I will think
of you graciously when I receive my degree. Thank you Joe! My name is Joanne Cruz. I am the recipient
of the Elaine Marieb Scholarship. I am married with three children. I’m currently at HCC,
majoring in pre-health options slash nursing. I have a GPA of 3.5. I want to thank Mrs.
Marieb for her generosity and her faith in me. This scholarship has encouraged me to
continue towards a future career in nursing. I plan to work hard and make your gift an
investment with no regrets. I have you as a role model, and sincerely thank you for
believing in me. My name is Sara Hampton and I’m receiving
the Elaine Marieb Scholarship and I just wanted to say thank you for your generosity. Without
it, there is no way I would have been able to complete my degree next year. So thank
you very much. Hi, my name is Carol Vitkauskas and I’m here
to receive the Elaine Marieb Scholarship. I’m thoroughly grateful for this opportunity
because without it I would be unable to continue my education and to head towards my goal as

the Anne and John Scholarship. I want to thank you for your donation and I am so grateful
because now I’m going to have the opportunity to better myself and my education and I thank
you so much. Good evening, Dr. McHugh. My name is Michael
Moran and I’m here today to say that I appreciate your generosity and thank you for helping
me to pursue my education beyond high school level. Once again, thank you. My name is Donna Anderson. I am this year’s
recipient of the Elizabeth Ella Provost Scholarship for nursing. On behalf of myself and my family,
I would like to thank you for your generosity in providing me with this scholarship. This
scholarship is greatly appreciated as I continue on with my education in nursing. Thank you
