2018 UPCEA Research and Scholarship Award – Oregon State University Ecampus Research Unit

At Oregon State University Ecampus, we believe that everyone deserves an equal opportunity to a quality education and through our OSU Ecampus Research Unit, we work every day to conduct world class, original research in online education to help meet that goal. We are honored to receive the 2018 UPCEA Research and Scholarship Award for our pioneering research related to instructional designers. This first-of-its-kind study dives into how instructional designers are using and engaging research on teaching and learning. Our research found that while instructional designers are well-positioned to conduct research on teaching and learning, a majority of them lack confidence, time and preparedness to do so. Since its inception in 2015, the Ecampus Research Unit has brought in more than 1 million dollars in grant funding, provided more than 200,000 dollars for faculty research, launched a research podcast and completed five original research studies and we’re just getting started. At Oregon State Ecampus, we won’t settle for the status quo. As we look ahead, we are digging deeper into research to give back to the field of online learning.
