AYFN Exchange Program Scholarship : Winter Japan Cultural Camp 2020

Hello my name is Konstantina and I’m from Athens, Greece. I love spending time in nature with friends, swimming in the sea, painting, traveling and reading crime fiction books. I have three cats and one
dog that I adore. As a person I am adventurous and very creative. I have a
Diploma in Preschool Education Sciences and Educational Design and a Med
Degree in Special Education. I am working as a teacher for children and young
people with learning difficulties. In the previous years I was the head of the
youth organization “Emerald of Rhodes”. The main aim of that organization was to empower and motivate young people and to help them discover volunteer work. Some
months ago I decided to make a break from my life for one year in order to
travel the world by offering voluntary work and participating in educational
training courses related to my profession. I have already participated in projects about Art and Crafts in Latvia and Cyprus, Gamification and Educational Board Games in Estonia, a voluntary
program in a hospital where I was organizing activities for people with mental disorder in Italy, a voluntary program in an international school in
Poland, study visits to empower minorities of refugee and migrant children in Albania and North Macedonia, a training course about radicalization
in Tunisia and a yoga retreat and meditation course in Armenia. I have
always dreamed about visiting Japan as I had been influenced by the Japanese
life philosophy “Ikigai”. As a teacher I have been inspired by Japanese
culture. I use Origami to teach my students symmetry. Haiku poems to help
them improve their command of syllabication. And Ink painting to
develop their creativity. It would be a great privilege for me to visit Japan
and to learn new interesting things that will inspire me even more and help me
grow both on a personal and a professional level. Through my
participation in this project I also want to meet new people from different
countries and intercultural backgrounds and to communicate and interact with
them. Hey world! I want to visit Japan with AYFN, so I have applied the
Exchange Program Scholarship provided by AYFN. I love AYFN, I love friendship.
