Caroline Reed – Giving Blueday 2019

Caroline Reed – Giving Blueday 2019

My dad was in the military. It was a big sacrifice to have to move our
family so much. I never really had a place to call home because
of all that moving growing up, but I definitely consider Michigan home now. I love it here. It’s definitely my home. I’m a recipient of an LSA Scholarship. To me, the scholarship is so important because
I saw what my parents sacrificed by being in the military. So taking the financial burden off of them
means a lot to me. I wouldn’t be able to attend my dream school
without this scholarship. Thanks to the LSA Opportunity Hub, I was able
to go on a trip to Nashville for a week and meet Michigan alums who are executives at
healthcare companies. I really loved it! I met amazing Michigan alumni. We got to see the ins and outs of healthcare. It was awesome. I came into Michigan undecided. After going to Nashville, I can totally see
what the Michigan alumni network does for students, and I definitely think that’s what
I want to pursue. And I really got to see what the healthcare
industry is like. I’m really excited to use my Michigan degree
to do that. One student organization that I’m involved
with is called WeListen. Their goal is to cross the political divide
between students. I really like it because I was looking forward
to coming to Michigan to really learn from a diverse student body, and I really get to
do that there. Thank you LSA donors for supporting me and
my education here at the University of Michigan. It means to much to know that there are alumni
standing behind me and my passions and goals. Your generosity means to both me and my family. Thank you so much. On Giving Blueday, support what you love about
LSA.
