[INAUDIBLE] COLLEGE RECIPIENT AND TO THE OPPORTUNITY
TO CONNECT OUR STUDENTS WITH OUR VERY GENEROUS
DONORS AND FRIENDS. AS COSTS TO STUDENTS CONTINUE
TO INCREASE IN THE FORM OF HIGHER TUITION,
FEES, LICENSING, AND [INAUDIBLE] COSTS. AND [INAUDIBLE] HAS

ONLY THE SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS BUT THE DONORS AS WELL. FOR RECIPIENTS, WE ARE PROUD
THAT CSULB WAS THE UNIVERSITY OF CHOICE FOR OBTAINING
YOUR DEGREE. YOUR ACCEPTANCE INTO THIS
COLLEGE AND YOUR RECEIPT OF THIS SCHOLARSHIP
ARE TESTAMENTS TO YOUR ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS AND
POTENTIAL AND SHOULD BE A SOURCE OF PRIDE FOR YOU
AND YOUR FAMILY. AND IT’S SO NICE TO SEE SO
MANY FAMILY MEMBERS HERE TODAY. FOR DONORS YOU’VE GIVEN SEVERAL
STUDENTS A FINANCIAL GIFT WHICH IN TURN OFTEN BECOMES
THE GIFT OF TIME OR A REDUCTION IN DEBT AND JUST A LESSENING
OF THE OVERALL STRESS. AS THEY TRY TO OBTAIN A
DEGREE WHILE NEEDING TO WORK AND MANAGE A FAMILY
AT THE SAME TIME. I KNOW THESE STUDENTS,
THE COLLEGE, AND THE UNIVERSITY ARE
GRATEFUL FOR YOUR GENEROSITY. THANK YOU. MANY STUDENTS TODAY ARE
AT LEAST HERE RECEIVING A POST-BACCALAUREATE DEGREE. IN A COMPETITIVE WORKFORCE, A POST-BACCALAUREATE
DEGREE HELPS YOU TO STAND OUT FROM YOUR PEERS AND
TO EXCEL IN YOUR CAREER. PROFESSIONALS WITH POST-BACCALAUREATE
DEGREES OFTEN EARN HIGHER PAY AND HAVE INCREASED
OPPORTUNITIES FOR ADVANCEMENT IN THEIR CAREERS AS WELL. CSULB PREPARES STUDENTS
FOR A WIDE RANGE OF DISTINGUISHED CAREERS. WE TEACH AND MENTOR STUDENTS
THAT GO ON AND BECOME EXPERT IN THEIR FIELDS IN BOTH
PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTORS. OUR FACULTY ARE NOT
ONLY DISTINGUISHED BY THEIR SCHOLARLY ACTIVITIES
BUT IN THEIR COMMITMENT TO THE SUCCESS OF OUR STUDENTS. THE RELATIONSHIPS THAT
THE STUDENTS DEVELOP WITH THE FACULTY AND
FELLOW STUDENTS ONLY SERVE TO ENRICH THEIR ACADEMIC
EXPERTISE. WE ARE THRILLED THAT
THE STUDENTS HAVE CHOSEN TO PURSUE THEIR GRADUATE
STUDIES AT CSULB. I ENCOURAGE THEM TO
USE ALL THE RESOURCES THAT THE CAMPUS HAS
AVAILABLE IN ADDITION TO THE WONDERFUL SCHOLARSHIPS
THAT THEY HAVE HERE TODAY. NELSON MANDELA SAYS THAT EDUCATION IS THE
MOST POWERFUL WEAPON WHICH YOU CAN USE
TO CHANGE THE WORLD. STUDENTS HERE ARE OUR FUTURE. YOU ARE OUR INSPIRATION
AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING HOW YOU
WILL CHANGE THE WORLD. GO BEACH. [ APPLAUSE ]>>OKAY. [INAUDIBLE]. NOW I WOULD LIKE TO
INTRODUCE MARIA HAWTHORNE, OUR SENIOR DIRECTOR
OF DEVELOPMENT FOR THE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION. IT HAS INDEED BEEN A
PLEASURE TO WORK WITH MARIA. [INAUDIBLE] A DEEP COMMITMENT
TO THE COLLEGE’S MISSION, TO OUR STUDENTS, AND TO
OUR ACADEMIC PROGRAMS. [INAUDIBLE]. [ APPLAUSE ]>>THANKS SHEREEN. I LOVE WORKING WITH YOU AND
WITH ALL OF OUR COLLEAGUES IN THIS COLLEGE ESPECIALLY WITH
ALL OF OUR WONDERFUL DONORS. WITHOUT WHOM, NONE
OF US WOULD BE IN THIS ROOM TODAY SO THANK YOU. BEFORE WE GET TO THE MAIN
EVENT, THE AWARDS PRESENTATION, WE HAVE INVITED THREE OF OUR
CURRENT SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS TO COME UP AND TELL YOU A
LITTLE BIT ABOUT THEMSELVES AND WHAT IS THE IMPACT OF THE SCHOLARSHIP
THEY’RE ABOUT TO RECEIVE. SO I WOULD LIKE TO INVITE
TO THIS STAGE NASTONE NEIR. YOU CAN COME UP. [ APPLAUSE ] AND I HOPE I DIDN’T TOTALLY
BUTCHER YOUR NAME HERE. BUT NASTONE IS CURRENTLY IN THE LOCAL STUDIES ITEP
URBAN DUAL CREDENTIAL PROGRAM WITH A MINOR IN CHILDHOOD
DEVELOPMENT AND FAMILY [INAUDIBLE].>>ALL RIGHT. CAN YOU GUYS HEAR ME? WELL, FIRST I’D LIKE TO
THANK LAUREN AND HAILEY FOR INVITING ME UP
HERE TO SPEAK. SO LET’S START WITH WHY I CHOSE
EDUCATION AS MY CAREER PATH. AND SO, FOR AS LONG AS I CAN
REMEMBER WHEN I WAS YOUNG AND IN MY OWN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
WE HAD CAREER DAY; AND SO, WE COULD DRESS UP
AS WHATEVER WE WANT, AND I ALWAYS DRESS
UP AS A TEACHER. EVERY SINGLE TIME. THAT’S ALL I DID. AND THEN MOVING ONTO
MY EIGHTH GRADE CLASS, WE HAD THIS OPPORTUNITY FOR
THE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS TO TEACH A CLASSROOM,
AND I TAUGHT FIFTH GRADE. FIFTH GRADE SCIENCE, AND I
ABSOLUTELY FELL IN LOVE WITH IT. IT WAS THE FIRST TIME I
EVER CREATED A LESSON PLAN, AND THE FIRST TIME I EVER
ACTUALLY STOOD UP IN FRONT OF STUDENTS AND PRESENTED
A LESSON PLAN. SO THERE’S AN AMAZING
EXPERIENCE WHICH MADE ME FEEL LIKE THAT TEACHING IS SOMETHING
THAT I WOULD LOVE TO DO. AND SO, HIGH SCHOOL
CAME AND I DID A BUNCH OF TUTORING AND THEN COLLEGE. AND I CAME TO CSULB AS A LIBERAL
STUDIES KNOWING WHAT I WANTED TO DO AND HOW I WANTED TO DO IT. SO RIGHT NOW CURRENTLY
I, [INAUDIBLE] STATED, I AM IN THE LIBERAL
STUDIES ITEP PROGRAM AND URBAN DUAL CREDENTIAL
PROGRAM. THE REASON WHY I CHOSE THE
URBAN DUAL CREDENTIAL PROGRAM IS BECAUSE FIRST I STARTED OFF AS
GENERAL ED AND I WASN’T SO SURE IF I COULD TEACH SPECIAL ED
STUDENTS, BUT I TOOK A CLASS ON CAMPUS ESV 454 AND
MY PROFESSOR [INAUDIBLE] WHO IS HERE SOMEWHERE,
HE MOTIVATED ME TO WANT TO TEACH SPECIAL ED STUDENTS,
AND SO I WAS IN A CLASSROOM AND I INTRODUCED SOME STUDENTS AND [INAUDIBLE] I
HAVE TO DO THIS. EVERY SINGLE STUDENT
DESERVES AN EDUCATION. SO WHAT MADE SPECIAL
ED STUDENTS DIFFERENT? THEY DESERVE THE EDUCATION
AND I WANTED TO BE PART OF THE COMMUNITY WHO
GAVE THEM THAT EDUCATION. AND SO, WHAT DO I PLAN
ON DOING WITH MY DEGREE? ULTIMATELY MY CAREER GOAL
IS TO BECOME A PROFESSOR, AND I WOULD LOVE TO TEACH FUTURE
STUDENTS HOW TO TEACH STUDENTS, AND THE ONLY WAY I COULD DO THAT
IS BY EXPLAINING MY EXPERIENCES AND IN ADDITION LIKE IN
THE CLASSROOM EXPERIENCES AND TRAVELING EXPERIENCES. SO I CAN TEACH MULTICULTURAL. MULTICULTURALLY. AND THIS SCHOLARSHIP WILL
HELP ME ATTAIN MY GOALS BY PROVIDING ME FINANCIAL
RELIEF, AND IT WILL GIVE ME THE
OPPORTUNITY TO FOCUS ON MY STUDY AND NOT WORRYING ABOUT
JUGGLING SCHOOL, WORK, MY MAJOR, MY MINOR, AND EVERYTHING,
FAMILY AND ALL OF THE ABOVE. SO IT HELPS ME FINANCE MY
EDUCATION AND IT MAKES A WORLD OF A DIFFERENCE BECAUSE IT
GIVES ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO FOLLOW MY DREAM
AS AN EDUCATOR. WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE [INAUDIBLE] LONG BEACH
ORGANIZATION, I LOOK FORWARD TO CONTINUING MY EDUCATION
AND PREPARING THE BEST I CAN TO BECOME THE BEST
TEACHER POSSIBLE AND ULTIMATELY THIS GIFT
WILL HELP ME ATTAIN A BETTER EDUCATION AND THEN HELP
FUTURE STUDENTS ATTAIN GOALS THAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO ACHIEVE. SO THANK YOU TO ALL THE
DONORS WHO ARE OVER HERE FOR GIVING US THE
FINANCIAL OPPORTUNITY TO SUCCEED AND ATTAIN OUR GOALS. THANK YOU. [ APPLAUSE ]>>THAN YOU MISS PINELLAS. AMAZING. THE NEXT PERSON
I WOULD LIKE TO CALL UP IS SYLVIA CARAKISS. THERE SHE IS. SHE EARNED HER SINGLE SUBJECT
CREDENTIAL IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SHE EARNED HER BACHELOR’S IN ADAPTIVE PHYSICAL
EDUCATION HERE IN 2016.>>GOOD EVENING EVERYONE. MY NAME IS SYLVIA CARAKISS. FIRST AND FOREMOST, I CANNOT
SAY ENOUGH HOW HONORED I FEEL TO STAND HERE AND BE
ABLE TO SHARE MY STORY, AND I [INAUDIBLE] MY SINCERE
THANKS AT BEING SELECTED AS THE EDITH KIM MEMORIAL
SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT. IT IS A TRUE HONOR TO
RECEIVE SUCH A WONDERFUL GIFT, AND YOUR KIND HEART AND AMAZING
GENEROSITY IS WELL APPRECIATED AND REALLY MEANS
THE WORLD TO ME. BEFORE I TALK ABOUT
WHAT I DO NOW, I WOULD LIKE TO SHOW A
LITTLE BACKGROUND ABOUT ME BECAUSE IT IS WHAT GOT
ME TO WHERE I AM TODAY. I ORIGINALLY MOVED
HERE FROM EUROPE WHEN I WAS EIGHT-YEARS-OLD
WITH MY FAMILY. WE WON THE LOTTERY AND
PACKED UP OUR FOUR SUITCASES AND MOVED HERE TO START
A DREAM IN AMERICA. IT WASN’T EASY. VERY DIFFICULT. MY MOM AND DAD WORKED DAY
AND NIGHT TO MAKE SURE ME AND MY BROTHER WENT TO SCHOOL AND HAD EVERYTHING
THAT WE NEEDED. I DIDN’T SPEAK A
WORD OF ENGLISH. DIDN’T EVEN KNOW
HOW TO SAY HELLO. I WENT TO SCHOOL AND MAKING
FRIENDS WAS VERY DIFFICULT BECAUSE I COULDN’T COMMUNICATE. THAT ALL CHANGED THE DAY THAT
I STARTED MY FIRST PE CLASS. IT WAS THE GREATEST
LESSON OF MY LIFE. I LEARNED PE IS A
UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE. YOU DON’T NEED ANY WORDS OR
PHRASES JUST ENERGY AND FUN. PLAYING ACTIVITIES
WITHOUT A WORD OF ENGLISH WAS THE
BEST PART OF MY DAY. AND AS I GREW OLDER, PE HAS
ALWAYS HELD SUCH A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART, AND I
KNEW I WANTED TO SHARE THAT WITH OTHER STUDENTS. TODAY I HAVE MY
POST-BACCALAUREATE DEGREE IN KINESIOLOGY FOR PHYSICAL
EDUCATION SPECIALIZING IN ADAPTIVE PHYSICAL
EDUCATION WHICH WORKS WITH STUDENTS WITH
SPECIAL NEEDS. I WORK WITH STUDENTS [INAUDIBLE]
AND PROVIDE PHYSICAL EDUCATION FOR THEM SO THAT THEY MAY
LIVE A LONGER HEALTHY LIFE AND LEARN THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING AN ACTIVE LIFESTYLE
REGARDLESS OF YOUR ABILITIES OR DISABILITIES, WE
ARE INSTILLED AND TOLD THAT YOU CAN DO ANYTHING AND THAT A HEALTHY
LIFESTYLE IS SO IMPORTANT. IT’S SO MUCH EASIER
TALKING TO KIDS. [ LAUGHTER ] SO, WHERE WAS I NOW? SO THE KIDS THAT I WORK
WITH CAN’T ALWAYS SPEAK. SOME OF THEM ARE NON-VERBAL AND OTHERS HAVE A VERY HARD
TIME WITH COMMUNICATION. BUT IN PE CLASS, WHEN I LOOK AT
MY CLASS THEY ALL HAVE ONE THING IN COMMON AND THAT IS HONESTLY
THE JOYOUS SMILES ON THEIR FACES WHEN THEY GET TO MOVE AND LEARN
SOMETHING NEW EVERY SINGLE DAY. I ALSO WORK HERE. I WORKED HERE IN CAL
STATE LONG BEACH FOR THE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
HERE CALLED ASAP WHERE I ALSO MENTOR FUTURE
APE STUDENTS AND WORK WITH THEM TWICE A WEEK AND
BASICALLY HELP THEM LEARN HOW TO CREATE LESSON PLANS
AND HOW TO TEACH CHILDREN AND HAVE THE PATIENCE. IT’S AN AWESOME JOB. I ALSO DO VOLUNTEERING WORK
IN THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS WHEN THEY ARE HERE IN
TOWN AND IT’S A WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL HONOR, AND I LOVE
GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY. FOR MY GOAL AS A FUTURE
EDUCATOR, IT IS HONESTLY TO JUST PASS ON THE LOVE AND THE
PASSION FROM PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SHOW THAT IT DOESN’T
MATTER ABOUT YOUR DISABILITIES, YOU ARE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING
THAT YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO. I AM SO FOREVER GRATEFUL
AND APPRECIATIVE OF THIS INCREDIBLE SCHOLARSHIP,
AND THANK YOU MR. AND MRS. NIXON FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART. IT HAS ALLOWED ME TO CONTINUE
AND FINISH MY STUDENT TEACHING WITH A LOT LESS STRESS. IT HAS GIVEN ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO UTILIZE MY FINANCIAL HEALTH
TOWARDS BOOKS, EQUIPMENT, AND OTHER THINGS THAT
OTHERWISE WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE. I CAN NOW FOCUS AND HAVE MORE
TIME ON IMPROVING AS A TEACHER AND GETTING BETTER EVERY DAY. IT IS SO INCREDIBLY INSPIRING
TO SEE PEOPLE GIVING BACK AND HELPING OTHERS AS
YOU HAVE DONE FOR ME. ONE DAY, I WISH TO DO THE
SAME AND HELP THOSE CONTINUING IN EDUCATION AND SHOW
THAT ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE AND HARD WORK CAN HAPPEN
AND DREAMS DO COME TRUE. IN OUR FIELD I WILL BE
[INAUDIBLE] WE HAVE ONE SAYING AND IT IS, “YOU ARE NOT DISABLED BY THE DISABILITIES
THAT YOU HAVE. YOU ARE ABLE BY THE
ABILITIES THAT YOU DO HAVE.” SO THANK YOU SO MUCH
AGAIN [INAUDIBLE]. [ APPLAUSE ]>>THANK YOU SYLVIA. THAT WAS REALLY INSPIRING. SO OUR NEXT SPEAKER WAS TO
HAVE BEEN STEPHANIE CLOVER AND SHE IS UNABLE TO
JOIN US THIS AFTERNOON. SHE IS WORKING TOWARDS
A DOCTORATE SO I’M GOING TO ASK THE CHAIR OF EDUCATIONAL
LEADERSHIP, DR. ANNA ORTEZ TO READ STEPHANIE’S
NOTES FOR US.>>I AM JUST A POOR
SUBSTITUTE FOR STEPHANIE BECAUSE SHE IS REALLY
A WONDERFUL PERSON, AND I WISH SHE COULD BE HERE
TODAY TO ADDRESS YOU ALL. STEPHANIE, I THINK, WAS
CHOSEN TO SPEAK TO YOU BECAUSE SHE HAS — I’M
GOING TO READ HER STATEMENT BUT SHE’S THE PROUD RECIPIENT OF
OVER $4000 IN SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS. SHE RECEIVED THE
MARY JOE GLASS AWARD, THE STEWART L. [INAUDIBLE]
SCHOLARSHIP, AND THE EDD SOCIAL
JUSTICE SCHOLARSHIP. SO ALL THAT IS REALLY
IN RECOGNITION TO NOT ONLY WHAT A
WONDERFUL STUDENT STEPHANIE IS BUT WHAT AN IMPACT SHE MAKES IN
HER OWN SCHOOL AS AN EDUCATOR. SHE SAID THAT THESE KIND
DONATIONS WILL ASSIST ME GREATLY IN MY CURRENT STUDIES AND
THEY ARE TRULY APPRECIATED. I AM A SOUTH LOS
ANGELES NATIVE, A WIFE, AND A MOTHER OF THREE YOUNG MEN. AS A CURRENT STUDENT OF THE
CAL STATE LONG BEACH DOCTORAL PROGRAM AND EDUCATIONAL
LEADERSHIP, SHE’S EXTREMELY HONORED
TO HAVE RECEIVED THESE GENEROUS DONATIONS. THEY WILL ALLOW HER TO CONTINUE
HER STUDIES AS BOTH A LEADER AND EDUCATION, AND A
TRUE AGENT OF CHANGE. WITH HELP FROM THESE
SCHOLARSHIPS, SHE WILL BE ABLE TO SUPPLEMENT HER
CURRENT FINANCIAL AID AND CONTINUE IN THE PROGRAM. AS A RESULT, THE PROMISE
OF EDUCATIONAL GREATNESS THAT SHE HAS MADE TO HERSELF,
TO HER PROFESSORS, HER STUDENTS, AND FELLOW SCHOOL
STAKEHOLDERS CAN NOW BE FOLLOWED THROUGH TO ITS FULL FRUITION. SHE SAYS AS AN EDUCATIONAL
LEADER I WILL STRIVE TO APPLY MY KNOWLEDGE
AND SKILLSET WITH HUMAN CONSCIOUSNESS,
DIGNITY, MORALITY, EQUITY, AND RESPECT FOR ALL. I LOOK FORWARD TO CONTINUING
MY JOURNEY AS AN INNOVATOR, RESEARCHER, AND PRACTITIONER
WITHIN THE FIELD OF EDUCATION PAYING
PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE SPECIAL NEEDS POPULATION, AND I KNOW THAT I WILL
ENJOY THE JOURNEY AS LONG AS IT IS ACCOMPANIED
BY DEDICATED AND OUTSTANDING LEADERS
SUCH AS YOURSELVES. THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND
HAVE A WONDERFUL AFTERNOON. [ APPLAUSE ]>>THANK YOU ANNA. THAT WAS GREAT. SO AS YOU’VE JUST HEARD, SO MUCH OF THIS SUPPORT IS
CRITICAL TO STUDENT SUCCESS. IT ALLOWS THEM TO FOCUS ON
BECOMING THE BEST TEACHERS, THE BEST LEADERS THEY CAN
BE WITHOUT THE DISTRACTION OF FINANCIAL WORRY, AND
THAT’S A HUGE IMPACT BUT IT COULDN’T HAPPEN WITHOUT
THE GENEROSITY OF OUR DONORS, SO LET ME ADD MY HEARTFELT
THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO ARE HERE TODAY WHO HAVE
SUPPORTED THE SCHOLARSHIP BECAUSE IT’S SO IMPACTFUL
AND SO WONDERFUL. SO THANK YOU. [ APPLAUSE ] I ALSO WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE
THOSE DONORS WHO CAME BEFORE. THERE’S A LIST OF THEM IN
THE BACK OF YOUR PROGRAM BUT THESE ARE FOLKS WHO
LEFT A LEGACY IN THEIR STATE TO CONTINUE THEIR
IMPACT IN EDUCATION. MOST OF THEM WERE
SCHOOL TEACHERS. SOME OF THESE WERE CREATED 20,
30 YEARS AGO, AND JUST ABOUT ALL OF THEM ARE ENDOWED WHICH
MEANS THEY WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT STUDENTS FOREVER
WHICH IS A HUGE LEGACY. I CAN’T THINK OF A BETTER ONE. SO IT’S NOW MY PLEASURE TO
INTRODUCE TO YOU MOIRA PORTNINE. SHE IS AN ASSOCIATE
DEAN IN THE COLLEGE. SHE’S RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATING THE
SCHOLARSHIP FACULTY COMMITTEE AND SHE HAS THE VERY
IMPORTANT TASK OF OVERSEEING THE
SELECTION PROCESS EVERY YEAR. MOIRA?>>THANKS MARIA AND
GOOD EVENING EVERYONE. AFTERNOON, EVENING, I’M NOT
SURE WHAT WE ARE AT THIS MOMENT. THERE ARE A NUMBER
OF INDIVIDUALS WHO ASSIST THE COLLEGE WITH ADMINISTERING
THESE SCHOLARSHIPS. FIRSTLY, I WOULD LIKE TO THANK
THE TEAM THAT WORKS VERY CLOSELY WITH ME YEAR ROUND TO ENSURE THAT THE SCHOLARSHIP
PROCESS RUNS SMOOTHLY. I’M NOT SURE IF THEY’RE HERE. [INAUDIBLE] AND OLIVER
[INAUDIBLE]. IS OLIVER HERE? I’M NOT SURE IF HE MADE IT. FROM THE CENTER FOR SCHOLARSHIP
INFORMATION BOTH WORK VERY CLOSELY WITH OUR COLLEGE
AND ALL THE APPLICANTS, SOME OF YOU HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH THESE FOLKS THROUGHOUT
THE YEAR, AND IN OUR COLLEGE OF EDUCATION FISCAL
OFFICE, [INAUDIBLE]. I GREATLY APPRECIATE
OUR TEAM’S INDIVIDUAL AND COLLECTIVE EFFORTS. MY THANKS ALSO GOES
OUT TO THE FACULTY SOME OF WHOM ARE HERE
TODAY THAT SERVE ON THE STUDENT AFFAIRS
COMMITTEE. THEY’RE ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES
OF THEIR DEPARTMENT AND THEY CAREFULLY
REVIEW ALL SCHOLARSHIPS TO SELECT THE MOST
QUALIFIED RECIPIENT FROM A VERY COMPETITIVE POOL. THEY EVALUATE APPLICATIONS
BASED ON PERSONAL BACKGROUND AND OBSTACLES, [INAUDIBLE]
WITH THE AREA OF STUDY, SHORT AND LONG TERM ACADEMIC
AND PROFESSIONAL GOALS, ACHIEVEMENTS, INFLUENCES
ON PROFESSIONAL GOALS, LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCES,
FINANCIAL NEED, AND GPA. SO NOW IT’S BEEN
A GREAT PLEASURE THAT WE BEGIN THE PROCESS OF RECOGNIZING OUR SCHOLARSHIP
RECIPIENTS AND DONORS. FOR OUR FIRST SCHOLARSHIP, IT
IS MY PRIVILEGE TO TELL YOU ABOUT THE WONDERFUL PARTNERSHIP THAT OUR COLLEGE STUDENTS ENJOY
THE SCHOOL’S FIRST CREDIT UNION IN RECOGNITION OF THE IMPORTANCE OF OUR [INAUDIBLE] DUAL
CREDENTIAL PROGRAMS [INAUDIBLE] CONTRIBUTED $500,000
OVER FIVE YEARS. THIS YEAR EVERY SINGLE

STUDENT TEACHING YEAR. SCHOOLS FIRST GENEROSITY
DEMONSTRATES THE VALUE THEY PLACE ON TEACHER ED PREPARATION AND THEIR COMMITMENT
TO THE PROFESSIONS. I BELIEVE THE [INAUDIBLE]. HE WAS GOING TO REPRESENT
YOU SO WE’RE VERY PLEASED WITH THE SUPPORT THIS
[INAUDIBLE] HAS PROVIDED, AND I WOULD LIKE TO CALL
UP TWO OF OUR STUDENTS. AMOUR IS RIGHT HERE

YOU TEACH PROGRAM, AND CODY IS IN THE UDC PROGRAM. SO COME ON UP AND YOU’RE
