Day in the Life: Josselin Paz Torres (SUNY Old Westbury)

My name is Josselin Paz I’m a
first-generation college student my major is industrial and labor
relations and I am currently the executive vice president of the Student
Government Association. The very first club I joined on campus was the Politics
Economics and Law club and that really opened the doors for my involvement in
student government and other clubs like the United Nations club and the founding
of my own club before undocumented students being the Undocumented Student Alliance. The Undocumented Student Alliance was formed to honor and power and
advocate for not just undocumented students on campus but immigrant
students. I would say my favorite class at Old Westbury has been Model United Nations, you get a great experience where you get to go to the United
Nations, the headquarters of the United Nations and you’re representing a
country and you’re speaking on their issues and you’re coming up with
resolutions for these issues and then you get to vote on those resolutions
inside the headquarters and that’s not an experience I would have gotten
anywhere else
