Destiny Ramos, Annual Fund Scholarship recipient

[BLANK_AUDIO] [MUSIC] My name is Destiny Ramos, I am a teaching credential student here
at the UC Davis School of Education. I graduate this spring in 2015, and I’ll get my Master’s degree
in the winter of 2016. One of my favorite things about being a
teacher is the connections that I’m making with the students,
I like the problem kids, I was one. But it was my fourth and
fifth grade teacher, Mr Kane, he didn’t see a problem kid, he saw me,
and saw that I like to fidget, and I needed to get up out of my chair. And, he was able to put me to work in
a way that none of my other teachers connected with me in. So I want to make that kind of connection
with students, and help them to learn it, and know that they’re
good at what they do. Let them see the positive light in school,
and that learning is fun. I was so grateful when I found out that
I earned the Annual Fund Scholarship and truly excited,
I’m crying because I’m so thankful. It’s truly an honor to be noticed
as somebody who works hard and wants it so badly [LAUGH] and
I just want to say thank you so much. I feel like I don’t deserve it,
because there’s so many people in this program who put
their heart and soul into it, but, I feel so
passionately about the students too. Thank you for giving to
the UC David School of Education. You’re really helping me realize
my dreams to become a teacher, together we are one, UC Davis. [MUSIC]
