Gary Cargile Homan Being Remembered Through Scholarship Donation

Gary Cargile Homan Being Remembered Through Scholarship Donation

– [Narrator] On November
8th, 2017 the Del Mar College Hospitality Management
program invited family, friends and staff for a
very generous and emotional scholarship donation announcement at the Restaurant Management building on Del Mar College’s West Campus. – Today’s $100,000 donation will support direct scholarships and
endowed scholarships for students majoring in the
three programs offered by the college’s Human Sciences
and Education Department. I can’t think of a sweeter
way to build a workforce that feeds our local and
regional hospitality industries than through the Gary
Cargile Homan Scholarship. This donation will make a
difference in our community, and Del Mar College Foundation appreciates the home and family and
the anonymous foundation for focusing on Del Mar College, its programs and our students, with a gift that will impact lives now and far into the future. – This is a very special gift. Actually, I’m a testimony of that. I’m a testimony of how
one person can influence and change your path in life. And you can fulfill your dreams. Helping the students to
have that financial aid, it will help them to fulfill a dream and hopefully preserve the
art that you dearly love. – [Narrator] The $100,000
scholarship has already made an impact on at least 16 culinary and Restaurant Management
students this year alone. – At least on a personal level, it’s an immense help towards
smoothing things over here at school as well as
taking care of things at home. Working full-time and
going to school full-time is a challenge, as anybody will tell you. And so it helps alleviate
some of that pressure, some of that stress from
trying to make ends meet, pay for tuition, pay for bills, and also still maintain that motivation and keep all the energy up here at school. And so it allows us to
focus on that energy and do the best we can here. – [Narrator] Homan’s passion,
generosity and legacy will now continue to
influence the lives of current and future Del Mar College
Hospitality Management students. – It’s a gift that money can’t give. And Gary is a gift that
will keep on giving, financially and in experience.
