HACC Foundation Scholarship Recipients at Convocation

Good morning, my name is Brianna Neil, I am a Business Administration [clears throat] Excuse me. I’m a business administration major here at HACC. I’m also the Council Chair of the
Virtual Learning Student Advisory Council or the VLSAC. I place an extreme amount of
importance on fundraising here at HACC. Without fundraising I would not have been the recipient of a scholarship totaling $1,000 from the HACC Foundation [clears throat] HACC Board of Trustees. Receiving scholarships
allows individuals like me to be a full-time student, a full-time employee
and a full-time parent of three. By helping to relieve some of the [applause] [laughter] by helping to relieve some of the financial burden my debt will not be as high as I had anticipated. Therefore, relieving some stress from my personal life and providing me a greater opportunity toto achieve my educational and career goals. Gift-giving should not stop with HACC staff, faculty and community partners however students can and should
get involved in helping their fellow students. Last year the virtual learning student advisory student council contributed $2,700 [clears throat] to the HACC virtual learning emergency assistance fund to create a fund for virtual students. Our student leadership team plans
to contribute $3,000 per fiscal year [applause] to maintain the fund for future years. Virtual students helping their fellow
virtual students achieve their goals is one of the core priorities of the
virtual learning student advisory council. In short the act of giving feels good. Thank you so much to the HACC Foundation, HACC Board of Trustees and all donors who helped make students dreams become a reality. [applause]
