IT MAY NOT FEEL LIKE IT OUTSIDE… BUT HORSE RACING FANS AREN’T LETTING THAT DAMPEN THEIR SPIRITS FOR OPENING DAY OF THE SPRING MEET KEENELAND. THE POST TIME FOR THE FIRST RACE IS IN JUST ABOUT AN HOUR — IT’S ALSO COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP DAY. W-K-Y-T’s MIKE LINDEN IS AT THE RACE COURSE WITH A PREVIEW OF TODAY’S FESTIVITIES. MIKE INTRO: With cooler than normal temperatures and near overcast skies, it doesn’t look nor feel much like spring in Kentucky, but with the start of the spring meet here at Keeneland, that’s not stopping people from coming out and enjoying the races. VO: With temperatures in the 40s for 1st post this afternoon, it doesn’t feel much like springtime in the Bluegrass. To kick off the spring meet last year temperatures hit the 60s by first post. That’s nearly a 20 degree difference in one year. Regardless of the weather, Keeneland officials say they still expect good attendance for opening day. Even with cooler than normal temperatures, race fans and first timers agree that Keeneland is a must see venue any time of year. SOT: “I’ve never been a race track but this is a vey beautiful area. I’ve traveled all over the world and I live in Hawaii, she lives in California. Kentucky is amazingly beautiful and the people are so nice!” MIKE TAG: The spring meet goes today until Friday, April 29th with no races on Mondays or Tuesdays. In Lexington, Mike Linden, WKYT.
