Kremen School of Education and Human Development – Dr. Berta González Scholarship Fund

[music]>>Dr. Berta González: Imagine a cohort of young people getting a graduate degree. Whether it’s at the master’s level or at the doctoral level. But they’re
working in the field. It’s experiential. They’re getting a daily dose of what it means to be
working and learning together. [music] The multicultural, bilingual, bicultural aspect has been on the back burner for many, many years. And my thought was that when I retired, or as I was moving
into that transition, I was setting aside resources. Because I wanted to make even a
small difference in the life of maybe one person. Maybe two. Maybe over time … ten, fifteen.
And that’s why it’s so important for donors and educators and other professions to give
back. I think we owe it to education. We owe it to the next generation. And so, when we
think about the School of Education, and we think about the variety of programs that we
have, and how they’re working in cohort groups, it almost a college without walls … when we
think about the universality and the cathedral of learning that they have developed. It’s
an amazing experience to work with those students. [music]
