Mavis Ward-Delaware Campus Scholarship I’ve been working full time, I actually
have and Associates from Hocking I earned about 30 years ago, and I just need to get
back into workforce with a real job that offers mobility, living wage, you know I can use
my mind mentally, just get back into workforce. I was taking care of my grandmother, my moms
mother, we kept her at home and didn’t put her in a nursing home. So I wasn’t able
to go to school at first, I had to switch to a retail job because of the flexibility
of hours, in order to keep her home and take care of her which is a demanding job in itself.
She passed on, so now I feel now I have the time to pursue some educational goals. And
get a job that is fulfilling, satisfying, helps people, the law, knowing about the law.
Helping people apply it in their daily lives. And having a good paying job, and enjoying
life while I’m at it. Its hard. My mother cant work, and basically all of the economic
and household is on me. I need to find a job that pays the bills, but just as important
to me is a job that I enjoy. That helps people. I don’t want to work just for money. It
has to be rewarding mentally, physically, and intellectually also. It paid for a small
portion, which was a big help. Anything and everything is always appreciated. It paid
for my class up in the county at Delaware campus. So that was a big plus. I get to spend
money on books and more supplies and on my other class I was taking at Columbus. So it
was graciously appreciated.
