Mitchell-Moulton Scholarship Initiative

Mitchell-Moulton Scholarship Initiative

My father got in a car accident and he was the main breadwinner so I lived with my dad on welfare all through high school. And without a scholarship I wouldn’t be able to go to school at all, I just wouldn’t have the money. The University of South Alabama’s
enrollment is on the rise with increasing numbers of students seeking
the opportunity to earn a college degree. As students invest in themselves and our
community many need assistance to bridge the gap between aspiration and achievement. Scholarships provide the extra help many of our students need to realize their goals. The scholarship has been incredibly important to me because it has given me the opportunity to join SGA, as well as help tutor, and find
on-campus jobs. Well your self esteem automatically rises and once you see that letter that you got the scholarship that was my future. I was ready for college I was ready to go to that level but without a scholarship I would never have gotten there. The power to transform the lives of University of South Alabama students has never been greater. USA currently is raising funds for the Abraham A. Mitchell & V. Gordon Moulton scholarship initiative which will vastly extend the reach of the university scholarship program. The initiative named for a generous donor and a former USA president was established through a 25 million dollar commitment to be used as a challenge match. From an investment perspective where else can you invest a dollar and have it turned into $2 overnight and that’s what happens with Abe Mitchell’s generosity and the matching opportunity we have through these scholarships. When we educate a student, that student then turns around and what he’s able to generate and contribute through the course of his life that he may not have been able to do otherwise. The investment can be measured in any number of ways. With your gift you can create opportunity where none existed before you can change our University transform the lives of students and open doors to new ideas and new ways of thinking. I feel that since someone gave me the opportunity and has invested money in me. I feel the need to not only work hard for myself but to prove to them that that money wasn’t wasted. I see myself giving back in the same way as it was given me If I have the opportunity
to give back in any way for scholarships or just come back and help the community
out that’s what I plan on doing in my future I take advanced classes and I’ve
been on the president’s list throughout my college career and I really just
think that the scholarship pushes me towards excellence the University of
South Alabama is a place of unlimited possibilities unrestrained ideas and
unforgettable experiences by partnering with the University and supporting the
Mitchell Moulton scholarship initiative you will help create a legacy of success
and opportunity I have to tell you it’s a competitive world out there we’re
competing with numerous of the universities for the top students and
this kind of a scholarship initiative gives us an advantage and an opportunity
to attract students that perhaps we couldn’t have otherwise and and shame on
us if we don’t take advantage of the opportunity that Dave Mitchell has
provided and that is why I’m involved in this campaign that’s why it took me one
second to decide to become an active participant he was good enough to
contribute the 25 million it’s our responsibility to educate new staff you
