(Dad): I went with her to Columbia College,
it was a perfect fit for her. (Mom): She immediately fell in love with the
campus. (Dad): She really did, she loved
the campus from the minute she saw it. (Columbia College Admissions): Hello St. Pius
High School, I’m here with Columbia College. We had a student compete at our scholarship
day, we had many apply, but only 10 that won scholarships. One of them got a full ride
here at St. Pius, so can we congratulate Sammy on her scholarship for $83,744. (applause) (Samantha): It means a lot. I mean I have
been doing a whole bunch of essays for scholarships, and now it feels like a weight has been taken
off my shoulders. Like I have been doing a lot of stuff for it. (Mom): She never gives up, she just goes and
goes the extra mile. (Dad): Yes, she is very driven, she never
says no. We can just always count on her to be out there doing the best she can because
that is what she is. (Samantha): Well I would like to say thank
you to my teachers for supporting me all along, especially Mr. Zielonko, and my parents who
gave me encouragement, and my friends also even though they told me I was doing too much,
but I would just like to thank everyone for their encouragement and support. (Dad): I am just so proud of you Sammy, you
are just a wonderful child. Such a perfect person in so many ways. (Mom): And never lose your spirit. (Dad): Never lose your spirit kid. (Columbia College Admissions): You want to
give a speech? (Samantha): Huh?
(Admissions): You want to give a speech? (Samantha): Give a speech? (Admissions): Ya, they said
they want a speech. (Samantha): What do I say?
(Admissions): Whatever you want. (audience): SPEECH! (Admissions): Megaphone?
(applause) (Samantha): I don’t know what to say
(Admissions): Whatever you want. (Laughter) We are taking
it back. (Laughter)
(Admissions): You’re good, you are good!
