If you want to be a better teacher and you want to make an impact on kids, this is a conference that is well worth attending. However diverse a population you have really makes
no difference. I think if you want to get better as an educator,
this is a great spot to be. I’ve been to many conferences, whether it be for education or for sports, and when I came down here last year
and left here I had learned something that was — that gave me goosebumps and made me want to be better. I took that back to my staff and said here are the things that I do that I really think make kids really want to work hard for me.
And I am not a person to share. I’m not like… I don’t want to get up
in front of staff. I’ve never ever volunteered to get up and speak in front of my staff or whatever, I just kind of want to sit back and learn
and soak it all in and get better. And when I left here last year I was like I need to talk to Elk Mound Middle School about this
because it was just so great. Had goosebumps, you know, and I was just like I gotta — other teachers have to hear this stuff.
I know that when people come here they will not be disappointed for being here. I’m back again this year and I’ll be back for as many years as they’ll have me. It’s just been rewarding, and I’m
so thankful for the institute and for UW-Milwaukee for putting this on. I think it’s a great learning experience for cooperating teachers and for anyone else
who wants to attend.
