My program of study is Human Services with a concentration in developmental disabilities. In 10 years where I see myself is I would like to start my own practice as a social worker. The scholarship I’m receiving is the Veterans Scholarship because I’m a United States Veteran. I learned about the CPCC scholarship by going over to the Veterans Office in the Terrell Building and talking to the staff. The advice I would give to students about CPCC scholarships is go online, look in the scholarship section, apply and strive for excellence. My name is Katidra Simpkins. I’m here in Charlotte, I’ve been here 10 years – I love this city. and I’m here by way of New York. My major at Central Piedmont is early childhood and vocal music and I am the first out of my mother’s children to finish college, so it’s a big deal for us. My mother – just to give her a shoutout – she’s not here anymore but she definitely put into us to get your education because no one can take that from you. The scholarship I’m currently receiving is the Levine Scholarship. In the next 10 years, I see myself completing my bachelor’s degree and my master’s degree in early childhood and music, and I’m hoping that I will see more of my music in early childhood programs facilitated in Charlotte, North Carolina. I want to send a heartfelt thank you to the donors who donate to the CPCC Scholarship fund. I want to tell you I’m very grateful for your contribution to my education. Thank you so much.
