Sean – LCC Foundation Scholarship Success Story

I was born in Indianapolis Indiana and then we moved down to Florida. I didn’t graduate in high school in the traditional timeframe that
most kids go through. I elected to get out and get to work sooner than later. When it was time for me to join the
army that’s when I went and got my GED. My experience in the army was
amazing. The adventures that me and the family got to go on. The sacrifices that we had to
make… actually brought us closer together. My military occupational specialty was 12 Bravo combat engineer. I was assigned to the Eighty Second
Airborne Division for the majority of my
enlistment. While serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, my primary job was to clear the routes go up and down the roads looking for
explosive devices and or any other hazards. Unfortunately I was injured on a
jump. I was fully intending to make Army a career but a jump injury put a quick end to that. My course of study at LCC is diesel technology. I’ve gotten a little bit a hands on
experience and training with this kind of stuff in the military and now here at LCC I’m taking those experiences and turning those into
certifications. All the instructors that I have had have gone above and beyond. You tell them what you need to do and they put you on the path. The G.I. Bill, although it’s great and it covers the majority of my educational expenses, it doesn’t allow me to reach my full potential as a diesel tech student. The foundation scholarships allow me to take those courses without having to worry about that extra
financial burden. As long as my family’s been here in
the United States I’d be the first one to graduate from college. I don’t know how to thank you
enough. Your donation is going to it’s allowing me to achieve my goals within the Diesel Program and the diesel industry. And as soon as I get my degree I can step right into the workforce and just get to work. Serving in the Army gave me the
chance to serve my country. I did it for the nation, now it’s time to do it for my community.
