SOLS 24/7 Scholar Development Programme – CSR Education in Malaysia

Ivan just graduated from university thanks to the
SOLS Scholar Development Program (SDP). Low-income students need your help to achieve
their dreams. Watch to find out how you can help. My name is Ivan New, I’m 32 years old and
I just finished my last paper! I’ve been in SOLS for four years, staying them with my friends,
we are always making jokes in the library, I’ve been looking at their face
for four consecutive years and soon, I’ll be leaving. My father always tells me
“whatever you do just do something that you like.” So here I am, in Asia Pacific University
studying bachelor degree in International Relations which is
something that really like. SOLS SDP has helped more than
300 students over the past 5 years. We run a non merit scholarship
programme with a 100% completion rate. I think this scholarship is very important
because they don’t only put emphasis on academy they also put emphasis on
curriculum as well. I had the chance to get involved in many activities and the skills we acquired can be used
in helping others as well. Some of the soft skills programmes
are English and Communication programme, Conflict Management, Time Management, whereas hard skills programmes included basic knowledge in IT, such as HTML, CSS and basic coding. The programmes also allowed us to do a job
placement with SOLS 24/7 and work with the department that is most
relevant to our degree. I think in SOLS we are different
compared to scholars in other programmes because our sense of achievement is not solely based on an individual’s achievements but also including other scholar, as we strive
to achieve better academic results together. I’ve joined a lot of other
activities, such as volunteering, I also joined as a panelist in local education
events. This shows that I’ve made some
achievements in my life. I’m a bit reluctant to leave the place
because they make every single my dreams possible. It’s thanks to programmes like SDP
that low-income students can afford quality education. Will your organization partner with us
to help change lives? Contact us for more information.
