What I love about the TCF financial Scholars Program is it really gives our team members an opportunity to connect one-on-one, face-to-face with adults and students alike. Literally the day that you graduate, and walk out into the world, the decisions you start to make start to matter. I think it’s really important to bring community into our classrooms so our students are getting to talk to real people in their community that are working in these careers to answer their questions, make them feel confident in making financial capability a part of their future. So today has been a really amazing experience being able to just create that financial stability in them, and let them know that there are different choices and that it’s different for everybody. I hope students will walk away with a better understanding of how important savings is, and getting ahead of personal debt before they get in too deep. So what I could teach my classmates about personal finance is that we do have a limited amount of money and just to be smart with it, and then you could have some wants, but you have to take care of the needs first. Schools have limited resources, and it’s so important that we’re investing back into the communities that our bank is a part of so TCF Bank is really invested to make sure students have these tools and resources to make smart financial decisions in their future, and make them financially savvy, so it’s so important that we have these partners connecting with our schools, funding these resources, so they have these standards aligned content that’s gonna help prepare them for the future. I think for me what’s exciting about this is it really stands up our purpose statement in our mission as a bank, which is we believe in financial stability to help customers and team members focus on what matters most. It’s just such a great way to give back.
