Hi, my name is Zarni Tun I went to Blackwater Bay. I’m currently studying Environment Science at UTS. I have cerebral palsy. From a young age it was difficult. I’ve been able to become independent through these challenges. Every single teacher that I had, they really encouraged me to do my very best. I climbed Mt Kosciuszko. It was 9 km up and 9 km down. For the Cerebral Palsy Alliance. I made sure I climbed the 9km up on crutches, I said to myself, I can do this and in the end I was able to do it, which was great. I, myself, raised $11,000 and as a team we raised $36,000 which was amazing. Rowing, I started in 2014 with Balmain Rowing Club. And with music, I’ve been playing the piano since I was 5. It started off as a physio exercise for my hands but I just found a love for music. I also go DJ gigs and just working with people who share the same love for music. Having scholarhips for young people with disabilities, it encourages them to try their best. I was amazed. It was like winning the lottery for me. I’ll be using it for textbooks and also when I go on field trips in coming years. It’s just there to give me support.
